Congratulations to Emily Annis, Ellie Brenner, and Brendin Larson who recieved the highest score of a 1 at WSMA State Solo and Ensemble. Brendin and Emily both performed classic and musical theater solos. In addition, Brendin and Emily were both nominated as exemplary soloists on their musical theater. Both students won! Congratulations! 


Band and Choir concert at Memorial Park Monday at 7:00 p.m. Cookies, brownies and milk available for purchase.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

The team finished in 3rd place in Division 3 at today's WFCA State Tournament. Congratulations to Maya Gruber, who was a state finalist and finished 6th in Demonstration Speaking! We will wrap up our season with our annual banquet, held at 6 PM on Monday, April 23 in the DHS cafeteria. Great season, team!

Shrek performances this weekend.  Friday and Saturday night at 6:30 p.m., Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.


  1. Congratulations to the Academic Decathlon Team on their 3rd place finish at the state competition last week.
  2. Winter sports awards night will be held tomorrow night at 7:00 in the high school cafeteria.  ALL letter winners in wrestling, girls basketball and boys basketball are expected to attend.   
  3. Boys Basketball season ended Saturday. Great job Panthers. 
  4. Attaboy - Free Public Performance tonight at 7:00 in large gym. 


Durand students participated in the Regional National History Day competition at UW Eau Claire on Thursday.  Drae Bauer, Jazmine Fuentes, Kendall Hagness, Payton Freund and Caterina Wood are advancing to state competition at UW Madison on Saturday, April 21.  A total of 314 students competed in the regional completion.  All the students did a great job.


Middle and High school students will be participating in an assembly, Monday March 12.  They will listen to a group that provides music and positive messages called Attaboy.   The band is doing a free show for the community Monday evening at 7:00 in the large gym – you are encouraged to come.

Boy's Basketball won the Sectional Semifinal game last night. Congratulations! tickets for the boys basketball sectional finals are on sale in the office throughout the day through 8:00 pm tonight, and from 8-noon on Friday.  The game is at New Richmond on Saturday at 1:00 pm.  All tickets are $5 each.

Bill Clouse: It is our intent to stream the game over Panther TV Channel 99 on Saturday afternoon.  It will also stream over the internet.  We apologize for those that lost connection over the internet during the semi-final game.  We were using the stream from Melrose-Mindoro and had no control over it.  If there are signal problems during the game, email me at and we will try to resolve them.

Congratulations to the senior forensicators on a 2nd place small team finish at Regis on Saturday.  Maya Gruber finished 2nd in Demonstration Speaking & 3rd in Informative Speaking, and Michael Blackhall finished 3rd in Extemporaneous Speaking.  Lexy Nimmo & Tyler Raprager also had strong showings.

  • Congratulations to the high school forensics team for successfully hosting their home tournament this week and takin home 3rd place.  Julia Hayden & Josie Radle were tournament champions in Duo, Hannah Milliren won 2nd place in Radio, Maya Gruber took 2nd in Demo & 3rd in Informative Speaking, Alex Fedie & Kiya Krings took 3rd in Duo, Izak Gruber was 3rd in Extemp, and Emma Schrauth won 3rd place in the small team division of the high school tournament.  Nice job everyone!!


  • Lauren Hendel and Brendin Larson had strong performances at Poetry Out Loud regionals. Brendin moves on to the State Poetry Out Loud Competitions in March.


  • The Math Team participated in the Math Meet at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire February 17. 
    • Taking 1st place out of over 100 participants was Brendin Larson and taking 5th place was Brooke Polzer. 



  • High school forensics team had 2nd place finish at Altoona on February 17. 
    • 2nd place finishers included Ian Schneider in Demo, Michael Blackhall in Extemp, and Alex Fedie in Impromptu. 
    • 3rd place finishers were Maya Gruber in Demo & Informative, Alex Fedie & Kiya Krings in Duo, Izak Gruber in Extemp, Kiya Krings in Impromptu, Payton Schneider in Oratory, and Hannah Milliren in Radio. 


  • The high school forensics team had a number of great individual performances and finished in 3rd place at Eau Claire North February 10. 
    • Kiya Krings & Alex Fedie finished 1st in Duo,
    • Carley Ward finished 2nd in Impromptu, Jade Wodack finished 2nd in Special Occasion, Josie Radle & Julia Hayden finished 2nd in Duo and Payton Schneider, Kiya Krings, Alex Fedie and Emma Schrauth finished 2nd in Group Interpretation. 
    • The team also had 15 other finalists. 


  • Friday February 9 the following students received awards at the local level for their designs in the annual Conservation Awareness Poster Contest using the theme “Watersheds: Our Water, Our Home”.
    • First Place winners are Cole Weisenbeck, Jesse Harm and Kennedy Robelia
    • Second Place winners are Taniesha Davis and Chase Hayes
    • Third Place winners are Robert Winkler and Taylor Pudenz



  • Results of the Regional Level Conservation Awareness Poster Competition. 
  • Kennedy Robelia  placed 1st in age group. Kennedy’s poster will advance to the State level next month.

  §  Jesse Harm placed  2nd in age group. 

  •  Congratulations to the academic decathlon team for placing in the top 15 out of 57 schools in their competition on Tuesday.  They will be going to the regional competition on January 12th.

  • There will be a CPR class offered on November 20th from 9:00am – 2:30pm.  Students interested in EMT or CNA classes will need CPR certification so this is a great opportunity to complete this class.  Sign up in the office.


  • The annual T-Shirt Design contest for this year’s musical, Shrek, has begun.  All middle school and high school students are invited to design the official shirt of the musical.  Forms for the contest can be picked up in the office – all entrees are due Tuesday, Nov. 28th – after Thanksgiving. 

  • The Durand Optimist are once again sponsoring the Christmas Wishes Project.  If you know of anyone that would need help with Christmas, applications are in the office.  This program is for children 12 and younger who live in Pepin County.  Applications are due back by November 27th.
